5-Star Review of Unbelievable by Geoff Habiger and Coy Kissee

I really enjoyed this novellette that takes place between Habiger and Kissee’s Unremarkable and Untouchable.

Unbelievable opens immediately after the end of Unremarkable where Saul, newly woken in his first night as a vampire, is recruited by Elliot Ness to serve in a special team determined to bring down the gangster Al Capone.

Saul agrees to help but is having some problems adjusting to his new life and giving up his old one. He is trying to come to terms with new abilities, new surroundings, and even a new name, all while missing his family and friends and worrying that the new voices he hears may mean that he’s losing his mind. He is determined to find a way to be useful to Ness as a vampire without becoming a monster.

I enjoyed this installment in the Saul Imbierowicz series particularly because it addresses how Saul begins to learn how to survive as a vampire. From stumbling into discovering new abilities and figuring out how to eat, to desperately missing his family, Unbelievable gives us a peek into what kind of adjustment period it takes to go from unremarkable postal worker to vampiric crime fighter.

Two of the things I love about Saul are his self-depreciating humor and strong sense of family, and Unbelievable delivers both in spades. It is an excellent addition to the series!
